This was so because the Bath Hotel was the first in the Caribbean and was built to accommodate the English Lords and Ladies during their stay.

The thermal springs or Bath Springs, close by was believed to have medicinal properties and was visited by those seeking its healing properties and enjoyment of its luxurious warmth. Your guide will stop for approximately 20 minutes for you to quickly experience the healing water and take pictures and view the site of these springs. Temperatures can reach up to 170℉.

Next door is the historic structure of the former Bath Hotel, now government offices still stands majestically and reflects how this structure was the most prominent structure on the island during the 1700’s.A stop at the Nelson’s Museum which is dedicated to Admiral Horatio Nelson or Alexander Hamilton Museum the great American statesman will allow you to view artifacts from their era. Entrance Fee US$10 per person.

Continuing, you will pass by one of the old Anglican Churches “St John’s Fig Tree Church) where the marriage certificate of Admiral Nelson and Fanny Nisbet is displayed. A slight deviation from the main road will lead you to Montpelier Estate and the Botanical Gardens of Nevis. A visit into the gardens is at a fee of US$13 per person.  One can opt to visit the garden or the Montpelier Plantation Inn where Fanny Nisbet and Lord Horatio Nelson were married under a tree close to the Montpelier Inn. This Inn has accommodated British Royalties over the years.Leaving the Montpelier Plantation Inn, we venture across the road to the Hermitage Plantation Inn which is reported to be the oldest structure in the Caribbean. Your visit will allow you to see the same architecture of the Carriage and Great House from the 1700 along with furniture, artifacts, dining wares etc. and the restored chattel houses.

Another interesting visit will be at the Golden Rock Hotel, another historical inn which was opened in the 1950’s. It is built on the site of an old windmill which is presently a honeymoon suite surrounded by cottages. The kitchen still has the original fireplace which is now remodeled in an old stone building.Continuing on the main road the next stop will be at the Nevisian Heritage Village. This was once a busy plantation of sugar and cotton. This venue depicts the social development of Nevis, it’s housing etc. over the years. You can see relics of stone works of bakery, rum distillery, black smith shop etc. dating back to the Caribs who lived on the island as the first settlers. A scenic drive continues around the island with a short stop in Charlestown to purchase any gift items. After having an educational experience, a chance to relax on the beach is an option before returning to your hotel in Nevis or taking the ferry back to St. Kitts. Persons returning to St. Kitts will be met and taken back to their respective hotel or cruise port
